Bridal showers are so much fun. It’s a time for the ladies to join together and celebrate the marriage of a couple. Ladies conversing, laughing, and enjoying a few moments to relax with friends. Last week I hosted a Bridal Shower Tea Party for a dear friend from church, she was married on Easter Sunday. I provided the house, a friend provided the food, and another friend provided the cake. Let me tell you, separating duties is the way to go! I simply prepared my dining room for a sweet little tea party and my friends provided the rest. We were able to shower our friend with love and gifts and it was a nice time to visit with ladies from church.

The table settings were fun, but didn’t come without a challenge. I set the table for eighteen women, so I had to borrow dishes from my mother-in-law and add a table to my already 12-foot dining table! I even brought in some outdoor chairs, but it all worked out. I was able to create a simple, yet elegant, dining table for eighteen by incorporating three sets of dishes and creating a centerpiece from items I had on hand.

When mixing dish sets, be sure to keep a common color scheme. My base color was white, of course, and I mixed in greens and pinks.

I even created a small table for the littles who would be in attendance. I set up a special little spot in the dining room full of everything pink and pretty! Knowing it would be their first tea party I wanted the girls to feel special. I had a book for each girl all about a sweet tea party, find it here, and I filled the table with things they could actually use.  No delicate china tea cups here, but Hadley’s cute tea set worked perfectly for them.

My friend who prepared the food did an amazing job! She took so much time to create yummy food that looked pretty too. Finger foods were the way to go and everyone seemed to enjoy the variety of items.

The cake was a show stopper. We decided to keep it simple and use flowers for the decoration. I basically asked for a simple round cake with white icing and my friend went above and beyond. It was beautiful and tasted good! Chocolate cake with raspberry in between the layers decorated with buttercream icing. Needless to say, the leftover cake we had at our house didn’t last too long.

We did, in fact, have hot tea at our tea party! We kept a kettle full of hot water and offered two types of teas for guests. The Royal Wedding Tea was perfect for the occasion and even had rose petals in the tea bags, perfection. My favorite was the Ginger Peach Tea with two sugar cubes. Even guests who aren’t big on hot teas tried and enjoyed at least one of the teas. We also had a cold hibiscus tea, water, sparkling water and coffee on hand for beverage options. The funny thing is that the bride wasn’t a fan of any of the beverages offered and opted for a coke, since she was the guest of honor she got what she wanted!

The shower was a group effort and we had so much fun. We kept it simple and really focused on just being able to enjoy one another’s company. It was a wonderful time.

My next table setting will be for another tea party! Stay tuned to read all about our Mother’s Day Tea Party coming up next month.
