How many table runners do you have? Am I the only one that has, like…ten? Okay maybe it’s more like eight, but I feel like I have a lot of them! Yes, some are seasonal and a few only fit my huge 14 foot dining table, but who needs that many table runners?
You do! I do! We all do!
Why?
Because I have five ways you can use a table runner. Even if they’re seasonal!

During the spring and summer we love to eat outside. Most nights we eat off of paper plates and we’re covered in dirt and grass from working outside. But some nights I like to make it special and I’ll use real dishes, ha! Once I lay a table runner down, especially the cute one I have from Caught Ya Lookin’, it instantly makes the table look beautiful! It’s such a simple touch yet it completely changes the feel of a table.

This is an area that can easily be neglected. But it should be an inspiring space! My desk area makes me happy and I do enjoy sitting down to work at it, but I love how bright and fun a table runner made it. I have had the cream table runner on it for a while but adding the light blue gingham table runner from Caught Ya Lookin’ really freshened up the space. It’s something I can change from season to season to make a big impact.
An awesome feature I appreciate about Caught Ya Lookin’ table runners is that they are double sided. They have many available in their store to purchase and, like I said before, tons on Wayfair but you can also have a custom one made. Remember how I said I liked to have seasonal table runners? The only downfall is that you can only use them for a specific season and then it gets stored away until next year. Not with CYL’s table runners!
I found a fun way to use three table runners, two that I used the reverse side of for the first layer of my table. See below what I did.
How cute, right? The khaki linen runners serve as placemats while I have a pop of color for the table runner in the center. What a fun idea!
With these actual table runners the reverse sides aren’t seasonal, but what if they were? No one would ever know and you would be getting use out of a table runner all year! I love this idea because with only three table runners you can completely change the look of your table based on which runner you decide to display down the center.
Up until now I’ve shown you ways to use them various ways on a table or desk. But how about your bed? How? Just like you do on a table, as an accent. The possibilities are endless here.
A made-up bed is a rare occasion at our house, but once it is I always wonder why I don’t do it more. An easy way to add an accent to a bed is with a decorative table runner! You can place it under pillows, at the foot of the bed, or even treat it as a throw and drape it over a corner of the bed. It would be easy to switch out through the seasons and it’s a fun way to add a pop of color to your bed, try it!

It really does make a big impact!
A functional kitchen table, to me, is one that can be used easily and cleaned easily. With the twins, it’s nice to have very few items on the table so I can wash the table down at night. The last thing I want to do it work around décor to clean.
Of course, the easiest way to use a table runner is to use it alone. Having a table runner on your every day kitchen table is a nice way to brighten the room and make it feel welcoming. With our dark wood table it can easily drab down the room just because of it’s color. The table runner gives the table an instant change and makes the whole room brighter.
