foam and faux flower wall

I’m always looking for décor inspiration and ideas. You name it, I’ve probably searched Pinterest and/or Instagram for it.

I was able to create a super cute wall in the twins’ bedroom that I absolutely adored. It began as an accent wall and then I rearranged the room and although it was still an accent wall, I felt the need to even out the décor in the room a bit. The accent wall was beside Thatcher’s bed so the wall by Hadley’s bed just seemed blah. It’s also the wall you can see from the hallway so I knew I needed to jazz it up a bit.

I already had a wooden monogram so I looked around for inspiration that was feminine, but also not pinks and rainbows! I’m still trying to keep their room fairly gender neutral being that I plan to keep them in the same room until they protest. So I found the ever famous foam flowers at Hobby Lobby. They definitely make a big statement and are pretty inexpensive, another plus is they aren’t difficult to hang on the wall. This is how it all began…

Simple, sweet, gender neutral, but boring! It actually looked like this for months because I didn’t know what else to do. I started to become satisfied with it until I saw something on Instagram.

Hello inspiration! It came from Erin’s Instagram feed, find it here, and I fell in love with the idea of doing something like this above Hadley’s bed. I already had the white foam flowers, I just needed a few sprigs of faux flowers. This was it.

Once florals were on sale at Hobby Lobby I added this project to my to do list.

I guesstimated how many floral stems I would need and I actually purchased two more foam flowers. You all…this project could not be any easier! It’s so simple!

Supplies Needed

White Foam Flowers (Hobby Lobby)

Variety of Floral Stems (Mine are all from Hobby Lobby)

Clear Push Pins

Command Strips (picture hanging strips)

Wire Cutters

Lay out your flowers on the floor to determine the best arrangement. Once decided, use command strips to attach them to the wall.

I used a variety of floral stems. You can use whatever you like when doing this, below is what I used.

I did add in two pink floral stems, per Hadley’s request. Be sure to purchase floral stems when they are 50% off at Hobby Lobby.

After figuring out where I wanted to place each floral stem I trimmed the ends with my wire cutters and basically tacked them to the wall with one push pin. I didn’t photograph this step, but I tried to find the heaviest point of the stem and use a push pin to offset the weight. Be sure to hide all the push pins behind the flowers if you can.

I could not be happier with the end result! By changing the arrangement of the flowers and adding some floral stems it took the look from boring to beautiful!

I cannot thank Erin enough for the inspiration to complete this project. She also has a blog you should check out here.
