Each Christmas, since the twins were born, we’ve added to our Christmas storybook collection. In previous years I have simply placed them in a basket for us to read when we’d like, but they always seemed to get “old” really quickly when I would get all of them out at once. The twins would be really excited about them, and then a couple of weeks in to December they were tired of them. The books would just sit in the basket until all the Christmas decor was put away. So…
This year I started a new tradition for Christmas.
I individually wrapped all the Christmas books we had and the twins get to open one each night. We are only on day three and they are loving it. The book gets its spotlight at bedtime and THEN it gets placed in the basket. By Christmas the basket will be full, but for now we’re adding to it slowly so the books are getting used a lot.
When I decided to do this we only had ten Christmas books. You can do this with however many Christmas books you have, but I decided to let the twins pick out a few more this Christmas.
If you don’t want to purchase all the books you can check some out from the library. Be cognizant of the date they need to be returned, but this is a great way to get your kids excited about books and spend zero money! I’ve been told there are lots of options at Goodwill and discounted books at stores like Ross and TJ Maxx too.
When you go to purchase Christmas books it can be overwhelming to try and get a good mix. Below, I’ve listed a few of the twins favorites with easy links for purchasing. Not all the books are about Christmas, some are about snow and the winter season. What are some of your favorite Christmas books? Comment below so others can see!
